General
The GoldMike MK2 is the result of years and years of experience by SPL. This tube and transistor preamp is used to amplify instruments and microphones.
The instrument input on the GoldMike is based on the Class A impedance converter found the SPL Gain Station. The combination of transistors and tubes gives this preamp a unique sound and character. Its low signal/noise ratio doesn't just render it perfect for live use, this preamp was born for digital/analogue studio use as well.
The GoldMike MK2 is equipped with a Lundahl transformer, which gives it more dynamics, a better frequency response and a higher input signal. The dual-wound transformers are both isolated, magnetically separated, and enclosed inside a metal housing.
An optional SPDIF AD/DA converter is separately available for use in combination with a DAW.
Since it's a two-channel preamp, you can use the dual channels in stereo or mono. This essentially sets you up with two preamps, which is ideal for stereo recordings with matched pair microphones.
